What the Sacklers Should Have Done

What the Sackler family should have done instead of pushing Oxycontin, an opioid which produces physical pleasure and dulls perception, they should have pushed Haldol, which apparently relieves the anxiety and fear which provokes anger and assaultive behavior.

The article in the Boston Review, "The Politics of White Anxiety" by Jonathan M. Metzl suggests that one response to racial unrest in the past was to medicate Blacks to create compliance as the article suggests by noting that "overdiagnosis of schizophrenia in Black men rose sevenfold in the 1960s."

Perhaps the similar tactic today is to medicate Whites so that they are more open to a society founded on the principles and goal of one people who seek to form "a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty" for all.  Then, perhaps, they would be motivated to recognize that an injury to one is an injury to all, any form of unjust discrimination is such an injury which should be eliminated.
